Sovirag Guest House

Sovirag guesthouse addresses tourists who want to spend their free time in a pleasant environment, rustic and artisanal, with all the comfort needed by the modern man at hand. We are providing accommodation for up to 34 persons and meals for up to 60 persons. Accommodation is in rooms with one bed, 2 or 3 beds, the furniture having traditional elements from Sic area. Each room is equipped with television, and has cable TV.

Leisure activities

Entertainment and leisure activities offered by the guesthouse allow the tourist to know the Hungarian culture and traditions better. Thus, tourists can admire the traditional Hungarian folk costumes, listen to music and watch dances performed at the folk dance celebrations that take place every weekend, visit traditional Hungarian rooms in local households, the Village Museum, the local manufacturers of hats and fur coats or get involved in the preparation of traditional recipes in the guesthouse kitchen, in particular goulash and kurtos kalacs. Also, tourists are invited to participate in Sic village life events such as: Sic Days (21 to 23 September 2012), the practice of recruiting young men, weddings (on Sundays, one can occasionally see the peasant wedding marches) and St. Bartholomew's Day events (August 24, each year).

Sights to visit

The tourist have the opportunity to visit the Pike Lake (Lacul Știucii), the reeds of Sic, the salt lake (Sărătura), the churches in Sic (Reformed Church – 1241, Roman Catholic Church – 1759, and the wooden Orthodox Church - 1707), Banffy Castle, the Wass family Mansion in Țaga, Nicula monastery, the Armenian church in Gherla or country houses.

How to get to gesthouse?

Sovirag guesthouse is located in Sic, about 15 km from the town of Gherla. From the center of Gherla follow the signpost to Nicula Monastery, on DJ 109C, and then the signpost to Pike Lake (Lacul Știucii) Nature Reserve, on DJ 109D. After having passed through the villages of Nicula, Bonț and Săcălaia, Sovirag guesthouse can be found on the left, right at the entrance to the village of Sic.
